Opened in 1973, the Opera House hosts more than 1,500 performances a year across its venues. Guided tours run daily and are the easiest way to see the interiors, but simply walking the forecourt and the Royal Botanic Garden foreshore gives the classic views. For the postcard shot with the Harbour Bridge, head to Mrs Macquarie's Chair or take the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly.
Combine it with The Rocks, a BridgeClimb or the Bondi to Coogee walk. Our Sydney first-timer's guide has more.
